Telehealth

Neuro SLP offers services via telehealth. Telehealth involves providing assessment and treatment remotely, by computer, email and/or phone. There is research evidence that assessment and therapy, delivered via telehealth, can be as effective as face-to-face sessions. There are several benefits of having assessment/therapy via telehealth. It can help reduce the cost of services, and can be very useful for people who can’t access a Speech Pathologist (e.g. people who live in rural or remote communities).

People who want to have Speech Pathology assessment/treatment via telehealth need the following:

  • a computer, laptop (PC or Mac) or iPad/tablet with an internal or external webcam
  • an internet connection
  • Skype loaded onto their computer or laptop; FaceTime can also be used on an iPad or iMac
  • an ability to use a computer
  • a helper may also be needed (especially if the person isn’t very familiar with using a computer)

Neuro SLP offers assessment and treatment for aphasia, speech difficulties (dysarthria and apraxia of speech), swallowing (dysphagia), and cognitive communication difficulties via telehealth.
